The Chairman of Strategy Consulting Limited, John Courtney has been a Company Director for over 20 years. John has spent many many years as Chairman or Managing Director of his own businesses. which have ranged from sporting goods to agricultural chemicals. He has also served as a Non-Executive Director for several SMEs.
John has trained at The Academy of Business Strategy, is an associate of the Institute of Consulting (membership: P10691), and a member of the Institute of Directors. He is also a visiting lecturer on the MBA course at Cranfield University School of Management and is a judge for The National Business Awards.
John has run training seminars at board level on corporate strategy and made presentations to both large and small groups on funding strategies. He brings a wealth of experience to clients, particularly in corporate strategy, funding, business planning and all areas of marketing strategy including digital marketing, new product development and brand marketing.
John is an approachable, practical, down to earth consultant comfortable in the board room of PLCs as well as helping with implementation with smaller companies.

Kathryn Dawson is the company’s Marketing Director, and she is also an experienced and multi-skilled consultant in her own right. Prior to Strategy Consulting, Kath was head of Strategic Business Analysis and International Client Administration with a multinational corporation and operated in both the UK and USA.
Kath is mainly responsible for client, supplier and associate relationships. Her passion is to deliver effective digital marketing strategies for clients.
Chartered Marketer, FCIM, DipM
Ann began her long and varied marketing career with household names such as Fisons, RS Components and Bostik. Whilst working for the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, Ann developed and implemented a strategy to communicate the health and safety message both in the UK and overseas to various safety critical industries, including construction, rail, oil and healthcare.
Her last position as an employee was as Marketing Director for Catalis Rail Training, an international supplier of training and development services to the rail industry, where Ann had responsibility to develop a management portfolio of services for the newly privatised industry. Clients included Railtrack, Virgin Trains, Amec, Balfour, Alstom and Kier.
Today, Ann advises on strategic marketing direction to meet clients’ business objectives. In addition, Ann overseas the implementation of marketing plans to ensure the various tactical aspects are adopted across the breadth of the marketing mix. Despite holding senior positions, Ann has never lost the ability to ‘roll up her sleeves’ and deliver cost-effective, practical solutions that work.
In recent years, she has supported clients at both a strategic and tactical level across a number of industries including construction, NHS and healthcare, rail, FMCG, leisure and IT.
As a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Chartered Marketer, Ann has lectured for the professional CIM exams and delivered numerous training courses on marketing.
Outside of work, Ann is an avid follower and member of Leicester Tigers and England rugby supporters’ clubs.

Gary is a professional strategist and has been advising directors and managers for more than 20 years. His experience is across a range of businesses, from the very largest through to start-ups and next-phase businesses. He brings a wealth of expertise in the areas of corporate and business strategy development and implementation; strategic marketing and operations; and business planning.
His sector expertise is wide ranging and centres on his ability to adapt the delivery of his expertise to the specific context of any organisation and industry. Recent projects include: strategic development and coaching for global leadership teams from Volvo Cars and Aon; strategic renewal for a contract cleaning company based in the UK; strategic development and implementation for one of the oldest companies in Japan; and strategic marketing for a company providing facilities for the 2012 Olympics, the newest UK shopping centre, and the tallest building in Asia.
A Company Director for 12 years, Gary gained a first degree in Management as well as a postgraduate Diploma from the CIM and an MBA from Warwick University. David is a former lawyer with over 20 years in claims-related professions, the majority of which was spent with the UK’s leading personal injury law firm. He writes regular articles about IT and business for various industry journals, and has done so for many years. He holds a number of board positions and has successfully built and sold a number of his own businesses.
With over 20 years of experience in diverse roles across Sales, Sales Operations, Marketing, Tech Support, and Research & Development, Sue enables clients to understand how their company is perceived by their customers and how to take effective action on customer perceptions.
